Matt's Graduation from Dental School and Estes Park Trip

Well, Matt finally graduated from Dental School! (Not that you can tell by the pics I have posted. I'm hoping that my mom and Kristen will email me some pics from graduation!) His graduation was May 22nd. We stayed in Aurora from the 21st to the 24th and then drove to Estes Park. We stayed at the Silver Moon Inn in EP and shared a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom suite with my parents. It was a very nice place and we look forward to staying there again. While in Estes Park, I got another massage at the Riverspointe Spa; it was amazing. I told Brad it was the best birthday present he ever let me buy myself! Anyways here are the few pics I did take over the weekend.
Okay, so I'm not posting any pics right now because blogger is not letting me move them within the post the right way. Maybe I will try again later.

Happy 11th Birthday, Makenna!

Wow, 11 years! It's hard to believe, but it's true. It sure is amazing how fast time flies! It's like what I said in a card I gave Makenna: I can remember the day she was born like it was yesterday.

Today the girls had early release at school. They got out at 1:30pm and Makenna had dance from 2-3pm and then 4:30-6:30pm. I knew it was going to be a hectic day since I had to take a 3 hour class this morning at work so I made some snacks last night for her to take to school and dance. She took turkey, cheese, and crackers to school for snack and rice crispy treats with chocolate chips to dance.

When she finally got home tonight, we had tacos. For dessert I had made a strawberry brownie trifle with white chocolate.

One of her best friend's came over for dessert and presents. She got lots of awesome gifts:

A ballon and carnations in a milkshake glass from Grandma and Grandpa
An AERO gift card
Live2Dance clothes
Books
Summer fun stuff
And, a laptop (a last minute surprise from her dad that I didn't even know about!)

It was a good day and she was really happy with the gifts, phone calls, and emails she received from so many people! And, the best gift of all that we are all most grateful for...her good health!

If It's Not One Thing, It's Another

If it's not one thing, it's another; today got a little hectic. In between running kids from school to dance and back and forth I had to run Rose to the vet. Last night she was outside for about half an hour before we went to bed and when I let her inside she was bleeding and limping with her left front paw. The vet said she was probably in a cat fight and got scratched and bitten and she had a fever. They cleaned up her puncture wounds, gave her a shot of penicillin, and sent home a week's supply of amoxicillin for me to attempt to give her. I think she is starting to feel a little better because now she is at least eating and drinking.

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day to all of you wonderful mothers I know! Hope you all have a wonderful day! We had a Mother's Day/Makenna's Birthday Luau today with my parents, Brad's mom, Matt, Kristen, Addie, Richard, and Skylar. The weather was perfect... warm, sunny, and NOT windy.

I hope you all had a well deserved day of relaxation, pampering, and special treatment. However, I know if you are like me, that probably wasn't the case. Here's how my day went:

Woke up at 6am

Went for a run...with both dogs...both dogs got free from their collars and I was left yelling useless threats in the middle of the street very early in the morning

Showered

Brad and Makenna continue to sleep

8:30am Alanna and I go to Walmart, then Kmart, then Albertson's

10:30am we get home to find Brad weed eating and Makenna just out of bed

Unloaded groceries

Dusted, swiffered, vacuumed, cleaned the bathrooms upstairs

Helped Alanna make a card

Cut the watermelon, made a relish tray,

Helped the girls hang some Luau decorations

Cleaned the kitchen

Hosted the luau party

Cleaned up after the luau

Filled out the half marathon registration papers and put them in the mail

Finally sat down...and blogged!

Wow!! What a day! Hope you have a great one!

I forgot to post an update on Makenna the other day. She did go to school Friday and did fine. She spent Friday night and Saturday with friends; so, I guess you could say she is feeling better. She has been drinking 64oz of Gatorade a day, taking 2 salt pills and 2 Zantac a day. Even though we aren't exactly sure what was wrong with her last week, it seems that what we are doing for her now is helping. Thanksto all of you for your concern, thoughts, and prayers, it all helps!

Update on Makenna

Makenna had her doctor's appointment today with her pediatrician. The pediatrician said rather than spend more money on tests that may or may not tell us anything, let's start treating her. She thinks one cause of her problems might be acid reflux, so she started her on Zantac and Maalox. Another problem she checked for was dehydration and said that it is possible Makenna has been chronically dehydrated. For dehydration the doctor said Makenna needs to drink at least 64 ounces of Gatorade a day and she is to take a salt pill twice a day. As for that elevated liver enzyme, the doctor said she wasn't that concerned with it because it is due to bone growth. Alkaline phosphatase is abundant in growing bones and is sometimes elevated in children that are growing.

She has been feeling a bit better today and tonight she ate a normal supper without an increase in pain.

She is planning on going to school tomorrow. I know she is worried about having to make up school work and dance practices and I really don't want her to get stressed out and make her problem worse.

I will keep you all updated and thanks again for keeping her in your thoughts and prayers.
